dress code
WHAT SHOES ARE REQUIRED?
- Ballet: flesh tone or pink ballet shoes (can be leather or canvas)
- Jazz: flesh tone, tan, or black jazz shoes
- Lyrical/Contemporary/Combo: half soles
- Hip Hop: CLEAN gym shoes or sneakers (outdoor shoes not permitted; please bring shoes to change into at the studio)
- Acro: barefoot
- Tap: Black tap shoes
- Turns & Leaps: tan or black jazz shoes recommended, half soles also acceptable
WHAT ATTIRE IS REQUIRED?
FOR JAZZ / COMBO / lyrical / TAP / TURNS & LEAPS CLASSES
Dancers are required to wear form-fitting dance wear or athletic wear, which includes:
- Leotards or tank tops
- Fitted t-shirts
- Shorts/spandex
- Athletic leggings
FOR BALLET CLASS
Dancers are required to wear any color LEOTARD with:
- pink, flesh tone, or black dance tights (can be worn with spandex shorts or a ballet skirt)
- spandex shorts
- athletic leggings (spandex-based, not cotton)
FOR ACRO CLASS
Dancers are expected to wear form-fitting dance wear or athletic wear, which includes:
- Leotards or tank tops*
- Fitted t-shirts*
- Shorts/spandex
- Athletic leggings
FOR HIP HOP & BREAKING
Dancers are expected to wear dance wear or athletic wear, and baggier clothing (sweatpants, larger t-shirts, etc) is acceptable for these classes. PANTS OR LEGGINGS ARE REQUIRED FOR HIP HOP CLASSES, as dancers will sometimes learn floor work, such as knee spins, that require fabric on the knees. NO JEANS PLEASE!
Dancers must also have CLEAN SNEAKERS for class; outdoor shoes are not permitted. Please bring a pair of clean sneakers with you to change into before you come in to class.

WHAT NOT TO WEAR IN CLASS
- Extra jewelry (anything worn should be minimal, unable to swing around, fall off, or accidentally be torn off).
- Hoop earrings more than a pinky finger larger than the ear lobe (we don't want any fingers to accidentally catch an earring and tear it off!)
- Jeans/denim
- Outdoor shoes
- School clothes
DRESS THE PART!! It's important to dress appropriately for each class so that you can get the most out of your learning experience.
If wearing sports bras or shorts/spandex, full coverage is required - no cleavage and no bums should be seen; NO EXCEPTIONS. Dress appropriately and respectfully.
*If you are not prepared for class in proper dress code, you will receive a warning the first time, then may be asked to leave class and will be marked absent for each subsequent dress code violation.
