MODERN 3/4
Modern dance is a concert dance form that originated in the early 20th century from ballet. It's known for its expressive, dynamic movements that break away from ballet's rigid structure and prioritize freedom of expression, emotion, and individuality. This class will focus on the fundamentals of modern dance through center and across-the-floor work, and learning phrases and combinations.

PRE-POINTE 3/4 & POINTE 4
Pre-pointe class is a strengthening and flexibility class for ballet dancers to prepare their feet, ankles, and legs for dancing on pointe, which involves wearing pointe shoes. Dancers in pre-pointe focus on building core strength, foot articulation, proper alignment, and calf and ankle muscles through specific exercises, including those using Thera-Bands and floor work. This class is a crucial preparatory step before a dancer is allowed to purchase and dance in pointe shoes.

Once dancers have gained sufficient strength, flexibility, and technique, they will be approved purchase pointe shoes. Pointe focuses on dancing "en pointe" (on the tips of the toes) using special pointe shoes. These classes build strength and refine technique for advanced dancers, incorporating barre exercises, center work, and across-the-floor combinations to master movements on the balls of the feet. Pointe classes emphasize core strength, alignment, and the shaping of the feet and ankles. Dancers en pointe may only perform en pointe in the recital if approved by the instructor - being en pointe in class does not guarantee a dancer will be en pointe for our recital performance.

INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL REQUIRED - Any dancers in Ballet 3/4 or Ballet 4 may register for this class, but must be evaluated by the instructor before being approved to be fitted for and purchase pointe shoes.
